Peter Muddy Waters Gopher Ride

The Lions Club of the City of Liverpool have played an important part in supporting the Community of Liverpool since its inception in November, 1957.

Our Club is part of the World’s Largest and Most Active Service Clubs Organisation known as Lions Clubs International – an organisation of over 45,000 Clubs with in excess of 1.35 Million Members.

Lions Clubs International worldwide has many specialist and general foundations – Likewise Australian Lions also have many specialist and general foundations – One such foundation is the “AUSTRALIAN LIONS CHILDRENS MOBILITY FOUNDATION” – ALCMF.

Please refer to the attached 2 page brochure for additional information.

The Directors of ALCMF in conjunction with THE VARIETY CLUB of AUSTRALIA are conducting a fundraising “Gopher Ride” from Sydney to Melbourne. For safety and logistical reasons it is not viable to endeavour to commence the ride from Sydney itself – consequently, the request from the organisers to our Club.

The Members of Liverpool Lions Club are proud to be associated with such a valiant effort on the part of Peter “Muddy” Waters’ Lions / Variety Club Gopher Ride to Melbourne.

This request consisted of the supplying of Dinner and Accommodation for Peter and the support team on Sunday 28th October, 2012 and breakfast on the morning of Monday 29th, October, 2012.

The site chosen for the Launch of the “Ride” is the Parking Area of The Liverpool Museum on the corner of Congressional Drive and Hume Highway, Liverpool.

Liverpool Lions Club has supplied 4 such “Walkers” to disadvantaged children in the Liverpool Municipality over the years at a cost of $11,000-00 EACH.
